Rosalind,
We cannot pretend that we do what we do in revenge. While the burning
was indeed a stupid strategy, and a strategy that gained our adversary
nothing - we did begin this war with the intention of destroying Ashtan
completely.
It does not make the burning "right" or "acceptable" - but it does mean
we should refrain from using the burning as a justification for what we
do. The burning should surely harden our resolve, but no more. We need
offer no justification to anyone, for we act upon our dreams. So long as
we hold true to those dreams - then our actions are justified in our own
eyes.
We do what we do for our own reasons, and they are many.
