A Contest

Greetings fellow Guilds, and other denizens of Sapience,
As some of you may have heard, I am currently holding a contest within
the Druids to do with the scribing of limericks. This contest will
extend one year from this day and help will be offered by myself to all
those who are not confident in the format or personal bardic abilities
that all of us possess(this doesn't mean I'll write your entry for you).
It is my wish to inform you of this contest that all of Aetolia may
contend with each other. A small donation is asked to the Druids to
participate and prizes will be offered for first, second, and third
place winners. Prizes to be offered consist of a custom designed shirt
as well as a certain 'surprize' to be given by me to the winners.
Limericks will be judged mainly by the effort put into it and the
general laughability of the content (be it satirical, absurd, or
otherwise).
For all who are not familiar with the form, the meter is measured in
syllables (the places where a new sound is introduced in the length of a
word, or more easily recalled, where your chin drops when speaking) that
conform to the pattern that follows for each of its five lines: Lines
1,2,and 5 have seven to ten syllables and rhyme with each other, while
lines 3 and 4 have five to seven syllables and rhyme with each other.
For example:
There once was a bard with a headache
This headache was born of her mistake
To write out a post
Instead of just boast
In the Common Room while eating her cake.
Not very good but still alright in the way of an example. Now that this
has been fully illustrated and joyfully beaten to death, I hope to find
all in participation. Those who wish to participate and are not in the
Druids must send donation and submission by mail. Thanks very much and
hope to see all of your limericks later.
Sincerely, Aureliana Devy'en
