Neutrality

Greetings,

I have been branded an enemy of the "neutral" city of Ashtan.

The charge for which I was enemied was kidnaping innocents. I went to
Ashtan, offered a candle to an orphan, who accepted it and began to
follow me. I did not enroll this child in the orphanage, because I could
not bear to see innocents mindlessly slaughtered to promote the evil
aspect of a landmark. I do not deny that this is a violation of Ashtan's
laws, nor do I deny committing this act.

I do wish to pose a question to the supposedly neutral citizens of
Ashtan. Why do you forbid the enrolling of children in Handel's Choir?
Is your lust for blood so great that you must sacrifice these children
to fill it? I've heard claims that some consider it a charitable service
to take these children from misery. To you I suggest that there is
another option. Handel will take these children, care for them and guide
them in his choir. Speaking from experience, seeing the joy on the faces
of the children who are enrolled is reward enough to do so.

But we all know that rescuing the children from a life of squaller is
not the reason for this law. Ashtan through all of its claims of
neutrality has a law in effect that promotes only evil, and hinders only
good. Ashtan should drop it's hypocritical claims of being neutral. If
you choose the life of evil, at least grow the courage to admit it.

I will not be paying the fine that Ashtan has levied on me, for I
committed no crime. I simply gave an orphan the chance to live. I will
wear my enemy status as a badge of honor.

Citizens of Ashtan, stop lying to the world, and for all I know,
yourselves. Either become the neutral city you claim to be, or admit to
what you are.
