Lady Sultan,

Members of a Guild of Shallam, the Paladins, have recently made
protective offers to several villages. Jaru, a small village by your
city, has also been given one such offer.

The people of Jaru have long held an independant leadership, but in many
ways we are the port of Shallam. We harbour her ships and mediate much
trade that comes to the southern lands. Though we are honoured
to be offered protection by the mighty Swordsaints, we feel that Shallam
itself has a stake in our well-being, rather than the Swordsaints.

In my official standing, I ask you and your city to offer the village of
Jaru the protection that we as fisherman, cannot give ourselves.
