Malhavoc, when you are hungry, what do you eat?
A farmer who cares for his crops, who keeps his soil fertile to reap the
bounty that nature provides him, economically reusing the same soil over
and over to produce food for hundreds if not thousands of people, is not
an abberration to nature, as you seem to imply by your comment regarding
harvesting.
Malhavoc, when you are wounded, how do you heal yourself?
Do those of the forest not harvest constantly, keeping the vegetation
quite low, just above the point of extinction, so it may grow back, and
be harvested again? What do the wild animals eat? Why do the forests
have an exceedingly small wildlife population? Are the forestals
starving out their brethren on purpose, or have they been below the
notice of you?
When you defend your city, you defend the very thing you are speaking
against. How you can hold a double standard, and claim it is not, is
something only the Divine can really ever understand. Ashtan itself is a
thing of mortal creation, clearing nature away to build houses,
structures, and statues. It brings politics, and with politics, comes
war, which is never healthy for the land.
One might think, from a few of your statements, particularly the one
about serving nature as you serve Ashtan, that you might secretly plot
its downfall, hoping to see nature overrun the city, while you play a
facade of a loyalist? But no... you are truely loyal to the city, and to
save grace in the eyes of your fellow forestals, you condemn any action
of change.
Loss of some of the forest surrounding Hashan would be far from crucial.
Half of it is charred and blackened, with no new growth to speak of,
except, of course, the sparse herbs and a few wayward buckawns. Bringing
life to the old city, cleaning it up and making it beautiful, on a place
that already has little natural value would be a benefit, as mortalkind
would not need to seek out some other place of nature to defile that
has, thus far, been left untouched.
Who is to say what is necessary, and what is not? The ruins of that city
are an eyesore upon Sapience, a festering wound plagued with dying
trolls and corrupted lizardmen. The only reason most people have to even
travel to such a place is to slay the inhabitants. The ruins aren't even
majestic, they leave no tribute or clue to an ancient civilization. They
are littered with trash and debris and filth, surely, in that state, it
cannot be good for the forest around it.
What more can you say against Hashan, or against civilization in
general, while you sit within the cold stone walls of Ashtan? Defend
yourself as you may. Those with an inkling of intelligence know that you
are a liar, masquerading for one side or the other, attempting to
carefully play both sides of the field to save your behind.
