Some reflections

I wish to put forth a few thoughts, lost in the heat and passion of
debate, over who is murdering whom, and why one chooses to defend while
another chooses to harm.
Consider this, that, in general, it is easier for one act of evil to
undo more good, than it does for a corresponding act of good to undo
evil. It also generally takes more effort and consideration on one's
part to act in a positive, rather than negative manner.
As an example, let us take the slaying of a fisherman:
In the act itself, you are depriving that person of all the
potentiallity of their existence, any good, or evil, they may have done
in the future, the children they may have sired and raised, the joy,
comfort and companionship they may have provided others.
You bring grief, sorrow and hardship to his friends and family. You
cause untold suffering to his mate, and any children they may have, as
well as his parents, brothers sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles, and so
on.
You create an atmosphere of mistrust, anger and fear, which may lead to
even more harm and suffering. Strangers or even casual aquaintances may
be harmed or mistreated, due to the fear and anger, as well as grief,
that is engendered by such senseless acts.
Yes, good and evil need to balance, but generally, it is easier for evil
to tip that balance away from equilibrium: as a fairly well known
aphorism states, all it takes for evil to triumph, is for good to do
nothing.
We should all be able, with just a bit of reflection upon our own
natures, know the truth of this. We should all be able to discern that,
generally it does take more effort when it comes to doing good, rather
than acting out of our own self-centered and selfish needs, not caring
or considering the wants and needs of those around us
What it generally comes down to is, that Evil, and those who serve and
follow the dark ways are in reality being selfish and lazy, not willing
to take the time or make the effort to consider or contemplate the
consequences of their actions, or even caring about such consequences
unless it directly affects them in a negative way.
However, by the same token, many times those who choose to try and act
for Good, will also not fully consider the consequenses of their
actions, and find that, in trying to do good, they have allowed evil to
gain.
As another aphorism states, the path to hell is paved with good
intentions.
Something for all to consider and think about, from a simple and lowly
monk, not of high rank or ambition.
In service to balance, equilibrium, and renewal,
