To the Defenders of Shastaan:
So you wish to defend the poor innocents of this fishing village. Fine,
that is your decision. But how would you feel if those who follow the
dark began defending their own? What if the Occultists began guarding
The Rock to protect the cultists? After all, they are of the darkness as
well, and we must guard our own. What then- how would you gain
experience and raise your alignment? What if we went to every place that
contained "bad" people and defended them through force? We would come to
a stalemate. The world would grow stagnant, as the only experience would
be gained through ratting and our slayings of each other.
Murder is murder, plain and simple. It's been said before so many times.
Murder is murder if the people killed are innocent fishermen or looting
thugs. However, you seem to miss this critical point. You feel that as
long as the people being killed are "bad" or "evil", it is permissible
and even a benefit to society. You fail to see that good balances evil,
the light balances the dark. Without one, the other would cease to
exist. Without evil, how can good be defined? As I said before, if those
of the shadows began defending all of our comrades in their villages and
hideaways, there would be stagnation.
Yes, we are killing people for the sake of our alignment. Do not get so
self-righteous that you forget that you, too, are killers, for the exact
same reasons.
