I'm sure that you are aware, as any hunter would, that you whatever you
do takes away from nature. The prey does not voluntarily give up it's
life, when you kill the prey that inhabits the forest, something is
taken out of it. The forest as a whole remains undamaged for the prey is
returned through the grace of the Goddess Lleis.
Similarly if you harvest the plants in a forest, you take away from it.
The plants do not voluntarily give up their lives and uproot themselves
for you. But again, excluding a few exceptions, Nature as a whole does
not suffer from it, for the plants that remain will spread their seeds
and soon new plant life will appear.
With respect to the Occultic Initiates, the loyal troops of Ashtan, the
same is also true. I have overseen their training to ensure that they
show a proper respect for nature, to walk lightly upon the earth, to be
at one with nature, since the forests are a valuable renewable resource,
a resource that must be carefully tended.
I must say that during the recent war with Bloodloch the fiercely loyal
Occultic Initiates of Ashtan were appalled by the actions of a guild,
that had in the past been the path they could take for further
enlightenment. Those few who are exceptionally gifted, well beyond the
skills needed for the militia, are at a loss as to where to go. For now
they remain within the militia. Regardless of what happens they will
never be able to trust those that in their eyes betrayed Ashtan. Several
have asked me what path they could take. I have said that I would make
inquiries on their behalf. Should you have any information that might
help them please message me and I will gather up the information and
pass it on.
