Sometime long ago, my mind seems to remember
A soft smile and shared laugh
Amid the branch and leaf, with the zephyr at our backs
Such perfection maintained in a distant memory
Of smell of the air
Of the look of the trees in the filtered, speckled sunlight
Tender words an innuendo,
To something more that resided deep inside you and I
Betrothed elsewhere by our hearts and minds,
The seeming adoration that lay there fell away...as did the years.
Memories lost amid the leaves, scattered in autumn
Blown by, brittle and barren in the cold times of our lives
Faded like the brilliant summer so went our hidden desires.

The snow is melting here and now,
Trapped by industry of civilization, these battles restrained
In the absence of your face from the world.
I can feel the sun again,
Petals and verdant new leaves poking through the snow
Crocus amid the wasteland
Refreshed and anew, stark against the faceless ground.
Shivered droplets cascading down my arms,
Evaporating in silent cries
Warming, awakening

Soft tender words spoke once more,
Awakening within
Revealing the blossom without
Petals unfurling in the tender morning light
As you take my side once more

Free now though to the emotions within
Flooded memories hint at what were strained memories...
Were they reality or dream?
Feeling your tender touch brush the flakes of frozen snow from round my
leaves
Nurturing, whispered words, soothing the bloom of shock
Calming, comforting and safe
Springs frost stopped by your lee
Secure in your arms,
Reassured by the presence, by the memory of your love

Penned by my hand on the 16th of Variach, in the year 131 MA.
