Poetry News Post #38

A shadowed glimpse.

On a torn scrap of yellowed parchment I discovered this poem. After
reading it, the paper succumbed to time and crumbled to dust. But
its words haunt me still. It was entitled, "I Embrace My Love."

> I Embrace My Love
>
>
>I taste the blackness of your heart welling out through slashed wrists,
>It's delicate bitterness so at odds with your smile-
> yet sweet just the same
>You cling to me with fading strength in your bone white arms,
>crying out soundlessly through bloodied lips.
>How fragile-seeming the onset of eternity has made you...
>_But I am no longer seduced by your illusions_

>The innocent facade which you so carefully prepared, torn asunder
by the Blood you craved.
>Now your fondest wish is granted with a flash of silvery fangs,
>Spiraling you further into damnation.

>Drift slowly...
> slowly...

>At the last when you fade completely _I wrench you back._
>The sweet solace of obliviion has been held ever beyond your grasp
>And never will you escape yourself,
>You are mine forever.
