Memories

When I awoke at age 18,
I had no memories.
I knew only who I was,
But naught of where I'd been.
As days became weeks,
And time moved along,
Memories slowly began to resurface,
Tales of a life I thought long gone.

Those memories return slowly,
Some of them happy and others blue,
And as they've continued coming back,
I realized something I never knew.
Memories alone can't define you,
Though they help to make you who you are,
Never seek to forget your past,
Because without it, you won't get far.

A lesson to remember, my dear,
The past cannot be changed,
But today you can live in the moment,
So do what you love, and live for Today.
But, please, always remember,
No matter what, I beg of thee,
There's a chance in every moment
To make new memories.

Penned by my hand on Kinsday, the 10th of Chakros, in the year 485 MA.
