The Twilight

The eternal slumber comes so soon
at the end of a day's hard work;
when all my woes have silently faded,
when all my worries are finally gone.

To sleep and to dream so vividly
of the peerless giants of my youth;
men whom etched with bloody knives,
savage deeds into history's tapestry.

To reminisce of long passed days
and a world alit with endless wonders;
beauty and horror wed closely together,
each adding to the other's majesty.

To so keenly feel the restless soul
ever longing for that out of reach;
gazing to the distant horizon,
but never at peace nor ever content.

To depart from solitary thoughts
that haunt me even as I rest;
of vibrant love and biting pain,
of resounding glory and bitter defeat,
of close comraderie and petty envy,
of every emotion under the sun,
of every sensation beneath the moon:

I bid you all farewell.

Penned by my hand on Closday, the 8th of Lleian, in the year 461 MA.
