August promotion – the Iron Carnival is in town!

Hi folks!

The Iron Carnival has rolled into town! The tents are raised, the midway is roaring, and the revellers have brought an entirely new promotion with them: Iron reveller’s lockboxes!

Iron reveller’s lockboxes will be available from the Artifact Packages section of the Aetolia website, starting at $6.99. Every lockbox is guaranteed to award at least 26 credits of value, but will average higher than that. Purchases will also award one organisation credit per lockbox.

Each lockbox contains one or more prizes drawn from the following:

* Unbound credit prizes ranging from 26 – 500.

* Abyssal relic coffers containing pieces from the Planar Relics set: air, chaos, death, earth, fire, life, Prime, shadow, spirit, and water. You can refer to RELIC LIST PROMO FULL for the full details of these relics and their powers.

* Artifacts ranging in value from 50 – 2000 credits.

* Batches of 25 or 50 Iron Coins.

* Small bags of chocolates, patriotic firework displays, globes of elemental energy, transmute beetle vouchers, silver chalices, and more rarely: morphic metal, and antiquated artifact salvage.

* Steed whistles for a thick-furred albino tiger.

* (NEW!) carnival-themed relic cosmetics: the reveller vox and pieces of the showstopper flair.

* Technique scrolls for the underhanded, venomous, gourmandic, forceful, bombastic, and starry styles, along with a smaller chance to receive a style point.

* Compendium pages for Asper, Maestral’s Barrier Reef, the Welto Trench, a volcano, a dimly lit subterranean river, and the Itzatl Morass.

* A selection of six minipets: a sideways goldfish; an Imp-in-a-box; a quizzical jackalope; (NEW!) a crowned carnival lion cub; (NEW!) a jaunty performance mouse; and (NEW!) a painted, bubble-blowing elephant calf.

A special thank-you goes to our ambitious Celani team for helping bring the three new carnival minipets to life!

The jaunty performance mouse also has a special trick of its own. Two mice can be combined into a brand new minipet: a mischief of two performance mice. You can then add further mice to the mischief one at a time, or combine two mischiefs to add their totals together. Make sure the minipets are housed, then use:

MINIPET COMBINE [AND]

As a note, to avoid confusion with the minipet exchange command, the bonded gorilla pair minipets will also use this new minipet combine syntax.

Bags of Tricks
Every Iron reveller’s lockbox also contains a Bag of Tricks in place of the usual consolation roll. Use BREAK BAG to claim the surprise hidden inside!

The Bag of Tricks contains the complete selection of familiar bonus care-package items, but every one of them has been dressed up for the Carnival with a new appearance and appropriately theatrical messages. You might find a fire eater’s torch in place of an immolation bomb, crimson candy floss instead of a grimstim pill, a fried wyvern heart on a stick, a roasted basilisk eye on a stick, a warped mirror shard, a seer’s dark crystal, a midway noisemaker, a ringmaster’s coaching script, dazzling carnival confetti, golden miracle toffee, or one of several other midway curiosities.

These disguises are for fun: each prize retains the mechanics of its familiar care-package counterpart. PROBE the item and you will find a hint explaining what it really is and how its carnival-themed syntax works, so nobody needs to guess whether the candy floss is safe to eat. (It probably isn’t, but that has never stopped anyone before!)

Every Bag of Tricks will also award one carnival dart, with a chance to find additional darts on top of that as its main prize.

Pop the Bubbles

Those darts are for another new attraction at the Iron Carnival: Pop the Bubbles! Seek out the excitable Grook aquamancer at the Midway (v84375), where he conjures a shared display of 200 prize-filled bubbles.

The prizes currently hidden across the raft include batches of 2,500 and 7,500 gold, credit prizes of 5 and 25 credits, experience chalices, ephemeral relic coffers for temporary relics*, and a single 250 credit grand prize. Everyone is choosing from the same display, so once a bubble has been burst it is gone until the display refreshes. Bursting the grand-prize bubble immediately replaces the entire display for everyone.

*The temporary relics are the usual: resplendence, dissonance, dreamscape, sangchoker, sunspear, keeneye, repair.

The useful syntaxes are:

* BUBBLES – look over the raft and its remaining bubbles.
* BUBBLES PRIZES – see which prizes are still floating somewhere on the raft.
* DART – throw at a bubble, for example DART B7.
* BUBBLES DARTS – check your available bonus darts and daily throw.

Everyone receives one free throw every day after playing for at least 60 minutes. Darts obtained from Bags of Tricks give you extra throws beyond that daily free attempt. You will also find a single Iron reveller’s lockbox for sale in the milestone shop for a golden keystone.
