Furniture

Furniture has been released! (Finally!)

You can BUY FURNITURE PERMIT your local craft guild office for the
standard price of 100 credits. You will also find the crafting complexes
in each city now have a Furniture annex.

There are several differences that need to be noted about the design
process of Furniture that is different to the other craft skills:

1) Depending on the object, you may need to set fields for:
- Max Weight (the total combined weight of items that can be PLACEed on
top of it)
- Max People (the total amount of people that can sit/lie on the object
at the same time)
- Max Chairs (the number of chairs that can be POSITIONed at the object)
- Drawers (the number of drawers the object has)

The settable value range will differ depending on what kind of item it
is.

2) Items which have drawers will need an appearance description for the
drawers (e.g. "a wooden drawer").

3) Items which can be HANGed will need a 'hung' message set for what the
item looks like in a QL if it's hung.

4) All Furniture items can have their components removed, so you can
make a stone chair instead of a wooden one, for example.

----------------------------

Creation/Supplying/Placing of Furniture

All Furniture items can be sold in shops. However, almost all of the
Furniture items have been flagged with 'heavy'. This means that
1) It'll slow your movement.
2) You can only carry one 'heavy' piece of Furniture at a time.

Since it's shorter to list which items aren't 'heavy', they are: Frames,
hammocks, mirrors and coat racks.

As an additional note, all 'heavy' Furniture items have restrictions on
where you can DROP them. These restrictions are:
1) Environment must be either Urban, Village, or Haven.
2) The room must be flagged as indoors. The exceptions to this are
fountains and benches, which can be placed outdoors too.

Cities/Guilds who want 'heavy' Furniture in places that don't meet these
requirements can talk to their Patron about the matter.

----------------------------

Furniture-interaction Commands

Frames and Shelves can be HANGed in any indoors room that is an urban,
village or haven environment.
Hammocks can be HANGed in any forest, garden or jungle room.
All three can be UNHOOKed.

Items with drawers can be manipulated as following:
OPEN DRAWER <#> OF <item>
CLOSE DRAWER <#> OF <item>
GET [amount] <item> FROM DRAWER <#> OF <furniture>
PUT [amount] <item> INTO DRAWER <#> OF <furniture>

PROBEing a furniture item will list its open drawers and contents.

Cabinets, cupboards and other such objects with doors can be manipulated
like a typical lidded container.
OPEN <furniture>
CLOSE <furniture>
PUT <item> IN <furniture>

You can place items on top of Furniture which support placing items by:
PLACE <item> ON <furniture>

INFO HERE (IH) will tell you if an item is on top of something (as will
glancing at the room).

You can position chairs at tables and desks by:
POSITION <chair> AT <table>

INFO HERE will once again tell you if a chair is positioned at a table.

To talk to everyone at that table, you can:
SAYHERE Did you know that Arion wears pink frilly dresses?

You can SIT ON and LIE ON items which support it.

If you're sitting on something, you can adjust your posture by:
POSTURE <UPRIGHT|RELAXED|RECLINED|SLOUCHED>

This will change your roomtext similar to a pose.

POSTURE NORMAL will remove your posture.

Additional notes

1) Qeddwyn is now selling venantium hammers, which double your Furniture
constructing output (the masterwork tool will also work for this)
2) Ere will be following up this post with information on a Furniture
design contest, in which the winner will get a free Furniture permit.
3) If you buy the permit now and win the contest, you'll be refunded the
cost of the permit instead.
4) All of this information will be placed in appropriate help files
shortly.
5) Big thanks to all the Gods, Celani and Players that helped finally
get this out.

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Arios, in the year 288 MA.
