An Ode

An Ode to Not-Bensy:

We stood shoulder to shoulder, dearest not-Bensy,
While thugs and bandits would have had our heads.
With words of Spirean Pride,
You steadied me:
A warm cloak drawn tight against winter's bite.

Offering wisdom on future adventures,
I found camaraderie that was not expected.
You could have come shine with us,
But your duty is all the shine you need.

So I go on, carrying the echo of your counsel,
Remembering the wear in your well-used gear,
And holding close
The name I never learned.

Perhaps one day we will meet again,
Share that drink I offered but never bought.
Until then - here's to you, not-Bensy.
Steady. Unyielding.
Even in your duty's quiet shine.

Penned by my hand on Tisday, the 5th of Dharos, in the year 18 AC.
