A Midnight Call To Dream

I lay in a barren field with the stars bright overhead
The wind whistled about me a song while on dirt I rest my head
The cool ground was hard beneath my back from being plowed
Tasting the air of crisp flavours from mountains high
I knew for certain I would get no sleep this night

Then like a lover welcoming me to her embrace she pulled
My attempts to fight her let me know she was not fooled
With gentle arms she welcomed me to her sweet embrace
"Come hither," she spoke and to my dreams we began to race

We danced and we ran across visions so brilliant and bright
The waltz, tango, and more leaps until we began our flight
Over the mountains and down the vales we ran and we soared
My erstwhile companion held me in her arms as we danced once more

Then we took a break by a pool with moths fluttering around
Visions appeared as we held each other near with nary a sound
Beautiful and sweet of what could be created and what could be done
She touched my hand and whispered, "There is more of this fun."

She touched my head and let me see the depths of my creativity
She touched my lips and with sudden sigh a song escaped that night
She touched my hands and I could feel the clay beneath the field
She touched my side and I began to sway for anything was possible that day
She touched my feet and they began to dance a rhythm their own perchance

Then at last she touched my heart and I heard her clear, "Dream. Now start."

When I awoke I was on that field with the midnight coming to pass
The Dawn was rising on the horizon and joyfully I went to my task.

Penned by my hand on Gosday, the 3rd of Arios, in the year 508 MA.
