Snow and Shadow

Written by: Nepthys

When moon presents above the spires
When day retreats and night conspires
Shadow's tooth grows ever long
And cloaks the streets where I belong

Their presence seen by no one's gaze
As quiet steps stealth out of phase
Leaving no footprints in the snow
Unknown to all just where they go
Seizing secrets to help us grow
The Syssin do I praise.

With shadow captured in their grasp
With gravity to warp and blast
A group of singularity
Corrupted they must never be
Or by wardens meet tragedy
Are Sciomancers, unsurpassed

And oh what wardens hold their watch
With Kalsu words and blades of steel
Another kill, another notch
When called upon, a fate to seal
Adjoined by mighty risen thrall
The Revenants devour all

In reliquaries housing night
In tomes these reader find invite
Of curious and ancient rites
With which the world is numbered
Morality? A passing blight
Of Archivists unencumbered

And ground itself is not left spared
Life's greatest gifts in turn ensnared
Nature itself twisted to gain
Experiment will yet unlock
The secrets of the humble rock
The power o'er all terrain
Is Alchemist's domain

And above us towering tall
Snow and shadow given form
Into foe's mind fear slowly crawls
In Glacian's fist, a perfect storm

When moon presents above the spires
When day retreats and night conspires
The city never truly sleeps
O'er Sapience its influence creeps
Shadow's tooth grows ever long
And cloaks the streets where I belong.

Penned by my hand on Tisday, the 23rd of Arios, in the year 507 MA.
