A Handful of Chaos

In the last days of Chakros, in the 18th year following the Creators' Monomachy, a chaotic change manifested within Sapience's landscape. Cosmic roots of a cast-off shard of the Chaos plane found a full grip upon the land, establishing itself as yet another Sapient realm of that mysterious, varied plane. While little changed on the physical face of the continent, a shift in the rocky remains of Tarissa's once-digsite unveiled a portal limned in fire, shaped as if a giant hand had wrenched the fabric of the Prime Material Plane asunder.

The Grand Library has received conflicting reports on the realm's hierarchy; rather than being ruled by a singular entity, the tiny realm appears to house varied entities of Chaotic design, each as different as the last, all of whom vie for control and dominance. Scholars and explorers have confirmed that the physical portion of the realm itself was once the digsite beneath the Siroccian mountains, now returned warped and set askew due to the immense power unleashed by an ascendant ritual. At the moment of the ritual's conclusion, the landmass had unmoored itself from the Prime Material, casting it adrift amidst the riotous depths of primordial Chaos. Information beyond these few key elements is sparse; the possibilities of Chaos prove once more that almost anything can become reality with the right manipulations and sufficiently unbreakable will.

Left to speculate on the nature of the shard's emergence, much of Sapience turns its eye(s) now to its mysterious depths. Though some argue that the natural forces of Chaos guided the fragment's full formation, others wondered at the fortune of these circumstances - and also which faction or organisation might benefit from this new, forbidden place beyond the bounds of the Prime Material.

Penned by my hand on Tisday, the 9th of Omeian, in the year 18 AC.
