Vortex

More chaos struck the Ayhesa cliffs this past month as the Sciomancers
claimed success in their attempt to stabilize the portal. Several of the
Indoron trapped within the Vortex began to free themselves by means of
the portal even as representatives from Spinesreach, Enorian, Duiran,
and Bloodloch came to greet them. However, the peaceful gathering soon
turned to violence as those of Bloodloch sought to protect the Aztob- or
simply gain vengeance on more familiar enemies- and forced the allies of
Light away from the portal.
After several tense encounters, those from Enorian and Duiran rallied
their forces together with Amarane the Luminary, Sentinel Vioel, Lady
Riess of the Templars, and Shaman Aweva, they managed to kill the
Sciomancers still keeping the portal attuned.
Shortly after this success, Mandre Opraf, one of the Aztob leaders,
emerged from the portal to address those gathered, promising rewards- of
a fashion- to those who were allies and enemies alike. After some
declarations of loyalties, Mandre called forth a final creature from
within the portal- a monstrous amalgamation of corpses which attacked
the defenders.
A bitter fight proceeded, with those of Bloodloch hindering any attempts
to slay the undead abomination, and those of Enorian and like-minded
allies within the Cabal valiantly kept up the effort despite
overwhelming odds. Surprisingly, though, it was Mephistoles of the
Teradrim who finally put an end to the creature's rampage, ultimately
claiming its hideous corpse.
No sign of Mandre, however, was seen either during or after the battle,
and she and the rest of the Aztob who emerged seem to have vanished
without a trace. The portal itself has yeilded no further clues, as it
appears that the Indoron remain trapped within, although it can now be
used as an alternate entrance to the Vortex to those outside.
