Year 470 is upon us, and with another decade in the game behind us it's time for the return of the Celebration of the Stars! Information on the Celebration will be split up across multiple announce posts (and mirrored to forums) so be sure to read them all!

Like the last year, we will be running multiple events over the next few weeks. Place in the top five for an event, and you'll earn Celebration points towards your ranking. At the end of the Celebration, the top ten individuals with the most points will receive credits! In addition to this, you can form a team of up to three people to participate in the new team rankings! These team rankings replace the city rankings from last time.

Most events will also contain additional credit prizes for those that place in the top three.

PRIZES
------
Individual Rankings Team Rankings
1st 1000cr 250cr to each member
2nd 500cr 200cr to each member
3rd 300cr 150cr to each member
4th 250cr 100cr to each member
5th 200cr 50cr to each member
6th 200cr
7th 150cr
8th 150cr
9th 100cr
10th 50cr

* 1st place individual will also receive a honours line.
* 1st place team will get to keep their team permanently.

Note: In case of ties in the rankings, ties will be broken by looking at who has the most first places. If still tied, then second places, and if still tied, then third places and so on until the tie is resolved.

TEAMS
-----
Teams can contain a maximum of three people. You can form a team with two, or just yourself, if desired but this will obviously put yourself at a large disadvantage. Placing in the top five for events will not only earn you individual points, but also points for your team. Your team can only earn points from a single team mate in any event, and this will always be taken from the team mate who scored the highest. e.g. Razmael, Tiur and Keroc are in Team Allstars. Razmael earns 5 points in a FFA event and Keroc only wins 2 (he's a scrub). Team Allstars will gain 5 points, because that's the highest earned by one of their team mates in that event.

Teams must be registered by the 7th of December 00:01 GMT (Howling). This deadline will be posted on EVENTS. Teams will be disbanded after the Celebration ends, other than the 1st place team. Once your team is registered, it's locked in and cannot be changed.

Teams cannot have names that are too similar. In the instance that two teams with similar names are registered (for example, Team Allstars vs The Allstars), the team which was first to register will get to keep the name and the others will be rejected.

Syntaxes:
TEAM FORM <name>
Forms a new team with the name specified. Team names can be a maximum of 40 characters long. Don't be too silly with the names - they'll be publically displayed on your HONORS ("He is a member of <teamname>") and we will reject registrations for inappropriate team names. They should be in-character.

TEAM INVITE <person>
Invites someone to your team.

TEAM ACCEPT
Accept a team invitation.

TEAM QUIT
Quit a team (only if yet to register). This will disband the team if you are the last person in it.

TEAM REGISTER
Register team for the Celebration. All members of the team must enter this command. Once all members have entered it, your team is locked and cannot be changed. This will submit your team name for approval to the administration. Anybody joining or quitting will unset everybody as having hit registered.

**important**: Once all members of the team have used the register command, your team is officially locked. Don't use it until you're 110% ready!

TEAM WHO
See who is online from your team, and shows their current location - ignores gem/elusion!

TEAMT <message>
Talk to your team.

TEAM LIST
Lists all current registered teams, their members and the team's standings.

*Note that team commands will not work inside a team free-for-all, since that event's commands will supercede it.

TEAM EVENTS
-----------
There are three special events throughout the Celebration that will only reward team points (i.e. no credit prizes) but the team points are a lot more than a normal event. Your team can only send one person to each of these events, and participating in one of the events will disqualify you from participating in the other two. You'll have to find a balance of team members in terms of skill and availability. These three events are:
- Team Champions FFA.
One member from each team will jump into the arena and fight it out in a team champions free-for-all. No, we don't care if team champions decide to group up within it.

- Poker Tournament
One member from each team will take a seat at the table and put their best poker face on.

- Quiz booth
Reminiscent of Herolt's quiz, this event can be done at any time after it opens - but the earlier you do it the more points you have available to earn.

Refer to the next announce post which will contain the event timetables for some more details on the events.

Substitution:
If a member of your team is unable to make it to an event for some reason, your team can choose another player to step in as a substitute player. There are a number of stipulations for a substitute, however. Firstly, they cannot belong to any other team. Furthermore, the team member the substitute covers for will be disqualified from any other team events. Lastly, any points the substitute earns for your team will be half of the value a registered member would earn. Eg. Your team member may have earned six (6) points during an event, whereas the substitute would only earn three (3).

Penned by my hand on Falsday, the 1st of Severin, in the year 470 MA.
