22.3.1 Important Rulings
For further information on rulings, HELPSEARCH and SEARCHNEWS CRAFTS <query> may be used.
[0;1;33mCommodity Rulings[0m:
[0;1;36m- Materials[0m:
- If the wood does not directly have its own type of wood in Aetolia, so long as they could feasibly exist.
- Things cannot be made from woods from specific areas, ex. brazilwood.
- Crystals can be used in place of gems when a specific gem is not mentioned, so long as colors and qualities do not contradict the gem in the design.
- Terracotta: while this does exist in Aetolia, consider "lava-fired pottery" instead.
- Spider silk/Luzith silk: spider silk is not as fine or valued as Luzith silk.
- Elemental ice: cannot be used in long-lasting designs, as it is ice.
- Influential: certain materials can evoke a response when used (ex. metals [fervorium, etc], plants [catcus weed, etc]). This usage must be employed judiciously and may require individual rulings from Becue.
- Fustian: acceptable if made from cotton.
- Rhinestones: may be referred to as diamantes only. Glass is the appropriate commodity.
- If using an alloy, you must include all of it, even if one material is accounted for in base components. Example: if using electrum, you must include one silver and one gold, even if a silver anklet design includes silver.
[0;1;36m- Exceptions to the rules (acceptable)[0m:
- Voile - Oolong - Champagne
[0;1;33mExplicit Rulings[0m:
- Do not submit snarky designs to elicit a response from a specific person. Explicitly, if there is an argument amongst crafters, do not go submitting a design for 'fun'. Only submit legitimate designs.
- Ellipsis ('...') is not acceptable in descriptive writing and cannot be used.
- 'One' language should be avoided in descriptions as it can force actions and thoughts upon viewers.
- Divines and Their symbols mentioned are acceptable, but must be approved by the Divine in question or Becue.
- Regarding daths: an article is not typically required (ex. vivid green dath: he is wearing vivid green dath, is acceptable), though when in an instance with a countable medium, it should be used with an article (ex. an eagle dath: she is wearing an eagle dath).
- Regarding blood: if a design with blood mentioned specifies the race from which the blood is sourced (ex. Rajamalan blood in a drink) then a corpse of that race is required as a commodity in the design. If the blood is not specified as a particular race, then the unidentified blood commodity will suffice.
[0;1;36m- Terminology[0m:
- Baroque: unacceptable, as is gothic, elizabethean, et cetera.
- Named weapons are restricted to artifact customizations (ex. Staff of Sundering, "the bastard sword Vengeance").
- Race terminology: see HELP DEMONYMS.
- The term 'pin-up' is too modern for Aetolia.
- Race specific terminology must be captailized (ex. Ogrebone, Dragonscales, et cetera).
- The term s'mores is too modern and region-specific; however, you may describe them in detail.
- Languages: if you mention something is in anything but Aetolian or Albedi, you cannot assume it is understood. Example: 'etchings in Mhun spell 'Journeys' is unacceptable versus something more acceptable 'delicate etchings in what appears to be Mhun trace its edge.'
[0;1;36m- Designs[0m:
- Sandals: when used on a clothing design, it must contain a sole. To make one sole-less (barefoot sandal), the anklet jewelcrafting design may be used.
- Sunglasses are unacceptable to provide sun protection; tinted glass may be used in regular glasses.
- Items cannot be used to brand you as another's property.
- Vials: vials cannot be made from gems, crystals, or other jewelcrafted materials; this is too similar to artifact vials. Basic glass is acceptable.
- Brew names may not include fully-capitalized words or punctuation.
- Pillows designed in likeness of a person are not allowed. See HELP DESIGN GUIDELINES regarding likenesses in designs.
- Ceramics glaze: may be demonstrated by brushstrokes and dripping-like styles as a finishing. Any further design must be included in the base item's design.
