Echoes of Power, appendix b

[The following report has been given to the Grand Library by the Council of Delve, in the interest of dissemination to all city-states of Sapience, to maintain awareness of significant geopolitical developments.]

To the Leaders and Citizens of Sapience,

In accordance with our commitment to sharing critical intelligence, the Council of Five presents this analysis of the celestial and maritime disturbances witnessed across the world on 22nd Chakros, year 11 AC [date converted to the Sapience calendar by the Grand Library].

Reports that we have received from the southern coastline of our continent have confirmed what many witnessed firsthand: a catastrophic confrontation between Winter’s Vengeant Eye, the Primordial Dragon of Wrath, and a Dreikathi aerial battlecraft. This clash marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Primordial Wrath, who controls Vorostra, and the Drakkenmont Empire. The confrontation appears to have been precipitated by the recent cosmic conjunction, which divided its power under the blessed Abyssal’s guidance between the triune continents of our planet. Based on our intelligence network’s reports, Winter’s Vengeant Eye and the Dreikathi military command immediately redirected this cosmic energy toward their long-standing conflict.

The resulting energy clash between the two forces was bright enough to briefly act as a second sun, illuminating even the far side of the world on Sapience where night reigned. The light projected the shadows of Primordial Wrath and the Dreikathi vessel many leagues from where the fight took place, allowing even those in distant Sapience to observe some flashes of the battle between them. So unprecedented was the potency of their exchange that the resulting shockwave from it travelled around the world twice, causing significant structural damage to many settlements.

Greater House Vakiria, which maintains the Drakkenmont Empire’s largest standing army due to its strategic position on the Twin Peninsulas, appears to have led this assault with full authorisation from the Autarch. However, despite their military might and technological advantages, Vakiria’s forces were ultimately forced to retreat from their foothold position on Vorostra. Their heavily fortified position across the Strait of Separation, which has stood for generations as a symbol of the Dreikathi’s ambitions and designs for Vorostra, now stands severely compromised, with much of their military infrastructure destroyed.

Preliminary reports from the conflict’s epicentre upon Vorostra indicate the formation of a new crater lake spanning nearly two miles across, filled with meltwater from Winter’s Vengeant Eye’s attacks. The tsunami redirected from Sapience’s shores struck the northern shoreline of Vorostra with devastating force, obliterating at least five settlements under Drakkenmont control and another seven that pay tribute to Primordial Wrath. Casualty estimates reach into the thousands.

Delve remains unharmed, protected from the worst by the great eld’akathi of Twilight.

The Council advises vigilance across all of Sapience. With Drakkenmont forces in retreat from Vorostra, Winter’s Vengeant Eye may turn her fury towards your continent in the coming years. While her fierce protective nature has historically been confined to her Vorostran subjects, we cannot predict the cosmic conjunction’s influence on her domain and temperament.

We remain,
The Council of Five.
