Poetry News Post #1824

An apologetic ode of explanation.

A Goddess once said to me
"leave your pride: be one with Me"
It took several painful years
And many tortured sights and fears
But at last, I learned Her wise
And swallowed up my noted pride.

It wasn't long before She waned:
Bad habits so deeply ingrained
Began to flourish like these 'pods
Fueled by my self-made odds
Rejecting goodness, angry still,
Pitching all my growth downhill.

After floundering awhile
Within my self-imposed exile
I decided to return
To the Light - maybe to learn
What I never understood
What it truly meant: "Be good"

And here is where I must, again,
Swallow my pride and refrain
From blaming You for my mistakes,
My arrogance or my aches.
My troubles are not Yours to bear
It was not You caused my despair.

I do not deserve Your grace
To fix this ill upon my face.
I, instead, request a chance
To let my, goodness advance,
I hope this is not too strange
But very much, I'd like to Change.

Penned by my hand on Gosday, the 16th of Arios, in the year 474 MA.
