A Desirous Outcome

There are no wedding bells in Nur.

There is, however, the occasional wedding.

After months of fretting, and not a few surreptitious attempts to dissuade him of his heart's desire, the booming tones of Bruyan, Loramere's town crier, rang across the World Tree. Once more for all and sundry did he declare, oh yez, his wedding oaths to Zuldra of Loramere.

The wedding was attended by Achaeans of all walks of life, with the one notable exception of certain allegedly washed-up announcers. Mhaldorian rubbed shoulders with Targossian and Ashtani with Hashani, all in companionship (or at least a temporary cessation of the customary "frank exchange of view" so common to adventurers) as they looked on in mostly silent observation. Overseen by the wandering priest Ocedda, all congregated within the boundaries of a temple most sacred: the shrine and grove of Eros, once the God of Love and Desire, upon Nur's penultimate circle.

Yet as oaths were spoken, few could have expected the response that was had as Nur's ancient wheels momentarily shuddered and slowed in their unending, cosmic revolution about Saar-elan. The City Forever knew, though the adventurers themselves as yet did not, that an Elder walked within its boundaries, one of equal age to Time Himself.

With a wash of sensation made physically manifest upon the bodies and souls of onlookers, Eros arrived to witness the union within what had once been his temple in the mythical past - and, perhaps, to point out the myriad benefits of refraining from such a limited thing as marriage. But even as Ocedda looked on in gobsmacked awe, robbed of word or thought, Zuldra refused to be dissuaded. His smile languid and unhurried, the Desire motioned for the ceremony to continue, his eternal features equally bored and amused with his gracious defeat before her iron will.

As the ceremony concluded, Bruyan and Zuldra departed Nur in search of peace and solitude within which to begin planning their new lives, still shaken by their unexpected guest. But Eros would remain. With his motives and actions entirely his own, freed from what he described as the constraints of his former Godhood, the Desire looked out over Nur's rings from within his former temple, expression inscrutable as he watched the Celestian cohort and their search for the secrets of the Aldar.

Summary: The wedding ceremony of Bruyan and Zuldra was interrupted by the arrival of Eros, the Desire. Though no longer a Divine, the once-God expressed a curious interest at the activity within Nur, ultimately choosing to remain within his former temple.

Penned by My hand on the 23rd of Miraman, in the year 792 AF.
