Letting Go

Written by: Grand Duchess Oriana Nehekhara

My heart can't speak your name,
without driving myself insane.

I let go of those reigns and set you free,
Why can't I forget these memories?

I see your face when I close my eyes,
What do I need to do to sever these ties?

My heart can't take this pain anymore,
Why can I not close that door?

I anguish away in the night,
and still I burn within the Light.

Thoughts, feelings all unfold,
I did the right thing, did as I was told.

Severing lines, and blurring emotions,
a thoughtless process of just going through the motions.

Your head maybe clear,
but the damage you wrought upon me is still here.

I didn't run, I didn't hide,
Unlike you, the one who lied.

Slowly and certainly I let go,
Finding myself, with our children in tow.

They will beg and call your name,
But do not worry, they will not know your shame.

Penned by my hand on Quensday, the 4th of Midsummer, in the year 496 MA.
