How to handle rejection.

Dear Ms. Shachalai

I am naturally somewhat disappointed to recieve these rejection letters on such a public forum. Of Course, it was not unexpected in view of the great number of people I have questioned who regularly interact with you. Imagine my surprise, though, when I opened the post and found a second, third, even fourth letter of rejection to rebuttal penned by your hand and with such a magnificent signature.

What was I to make of it? Was these merely the continued progression of "No, no, a thousand times no" sort of response? While undeniably elegant, I have to suspect that the need to economize in these troubled times would preclude such blatant inefficiency; at the most, you could certainly sum up all of this in a single missive.

Might your reaction have been so strong that a single post was not enough to enable you to get it out of your system? If that is the case, I might be keen to recommend a single good, nasty, insulting letter--it would, no doubt, be more satisfying than a dozen, "Did you read the propaganda I have sent you" letters the public as a whole has had such a lovely time seeing. I certainly imagine finding a publisher would suit you better than you hawking your book on every street corner in Sapience for a modicum of praise you never got in your lifetime anywhere else.

Or perhaps this is an effort, however enigmatic, to establish an ongoing correspondence. One-sided though it may be, it does keep the channels of communication intact. It seems a little like establishing a relationship with the current weather forecast if you ask me, but who am I to criticize your methods.

Allow me to recommend some alternatives. You might include furthermore a simple answer to sate your needs, perhaps an attached postcard with boxes to check marked, "YES, I am now thoroughly convinced that you understand my elemental theories." and "NO, I am not yet persuaded, please write me with further information." Also, be certain to include one of those skinny little quills with the form if you choose to adopt this idea, I assure you its a good one. Another possibility, and let me ...go out on a limb here. You should establish relationships and connections with the populace, you could economically build relations and then contact these people...lets call them "Yes Men" each morning and have them reassure you that your ideas are still solid. It is alot better than doing it yourself and has a bit more value. Then instead of consistently badgering the population as a whole, you could have...

Bear with me here...

Actual people who agree with your information and can support it in a variety of languages, dialects...this here is called scientific research, it handles numerous variables and allows those rejections of rebuttal to come from more places than a source which may be biased.

But enough of my ideas. Best wishes to you in whatever you decide,

Yours Rejectedly, In Knowledge and Progress,

Runas Elindian
