18.6.2 Orrery

ORRERY gives the current status of the Orrery. The Orrery is located within an observatory in the Scidve Mountains, room v62642. Entering this area at any time gives aura.

Every in-game year, on the 10th of Variach and the 10th of Midsummer, the Orrery becomes active. It locks every second day until reaching the last day of the month, i.e. it is open for contest on the 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, 20th, 22nd, 24th, and 25th. The final day provides one last opportunity to influence the Orrery. At the start of the new month, it is locked permanently until the next Orrery season.

Essence of Spirit or Shadow will periodically spawn in a radius around the Orrery. You must pick up the appropriate essence for your tether and then take it anywhere inside the Observatory area and INFUSE ORRERY WITH <essence>, which is a short channeled action. Doing this influences the Orrery towards your tether and away from the opposite.

At Midnight at the end of an active day, whichever tether holds alignment of the Orrery will gain an attunement point, and the Orrery will reset to neutral.

Be warned, the essence is raw and volatile, and once you pick up the essence it begins dealing damage to its holder, increasing over time. Globes sitting on the ground longer than 5 minutes will respawn. If a globe is dropped on the ground after being held by a player, it will respawn within a minute. You cannot pick up globes of the opposing tether. During the open periods of the Orrery, each tether spawns 10 globes every hour. Whichever tether has the least amount of locked-in attunement points spawns extra globes equal to the difference in attunement points. For example, if the winning tether is ahead by 2 points, the losing tether will have 2 extra globes spawn every hour.

At the stroke of Midnight after the last day of the Orrery, the essence stops spawning around the Orrery, leaving the Orrery locked to whatever tether received the most attunement points during the open days of the season. A bonus is determined by highest tether attunement minus the other tether's attunement. For example, if the Orrery ends with 6 Shadow attunement points and 3 Spirit attunement points, then the Orrery will be Shadow-attuned at level 3 until the next Orrery season.

Bonuses

Level 1: 5% bonus to shadow damage audit (spirit-aligned), or 5% bonus to spirit damage audit (shadow-aligned).
Level 2: Gain +1 to celerity during the day (spirit), or night (shadow).
Level 3: Small bonus chance to gold drops at day (spirit-aligned), or night (shadow-aligned).
Level 4: At noon (spirit), or midnight (shadow), stats are set to 21 and gain increased balance/equilibrium recovery.
Level 5: Small increase to health restored by serums/elixirs during the day (spirit), or night (shadow).

PK Rules

- The Orrery is within its own 5 room area, the observatory. This area is considered Open PK, and anybody entering it is fair game.
- Picking up or holding globes outside of the five room Orrery area does NOT make one Open PK.
- Normal PK rules apply otherwise.
